Request Deletion of a Project

Home > selected Project > Delete

Requires Projects - Delete Permissions

You must have the appropriate permissions to request deletion of a Project and all of its contents.

If you have the appropriate permissions, you can make the request to delete the Project and send it into a DELETE_REQUEST_PENDING state, as long as there are no jobs in progress. A confirmation dialog ask you to confirm the operation and informs you that the request you submit will need to approved by an Administrator with permissions (or denied, if necessary).

A Project submitted for deletion goes into a DELETE_REQUEST_PENDING state, and the Project is grayed out and unavailable. Assuming that a mail server configuration is in place, all System Users (with the appropriate permissions) who have an email associated with their account receive an email notification about the request for deletion of the Project and can either approve or decline the deletion request.

Note: This operation does not affect Organization documents added to the Project from Data Areas and Users/Groups assigned to the Project (the documents remain intact, as do Users and Groups defined for the Organization). This operation deletes references to the documents and User/Group assignments to the Project.

When you delete a Project, you delete the following:

  • Associations of available Data Sets to the Project. (Organization Data Sets are always preserved to support new or existing Projects.
  • Any views that were defined explicitly for the Project, such as Folders,Synthetic Documents, and Export Streams.
  • All Work Basket tasks for the Project.
  • Associations of available Users and Groups to the Project. User accounts assigned to the Project still exist but they no longer have an association with the deleted Project.

Note: If you have Export CSV files that you want to keep, be sure to retrieve them before you delete the Project. After you delete the Project, you cannot recover these Export CSV files.

To delete a Project:

  1. On the Home page, select the Project you want to delete.
  2. Right-click the Project and select Delete.
  3. A confirmation dialog informs you that the request you submit will need to approved by an Administrator with permissions (or denied, if necessary). Either click Request Project Deletion to continue, or click Cancel to cancel the operation.

Note: When you issue a Delete operation within a given Project, you no longer see the object in the user interface. Where applicable, for example, for delete Data Set or Project Data operations, a Work Basket task appears to enable you to monitor the progress of the Delete operation. A Delete operation may involve cleanup of a number of objects and could take time. If the Delete operation fails, you can check the details reported for that task, and contact your Administrator, if necessary. In some cases, your Administrator may want to use a utility to perform further cleanup of Delete operations.
