Request Deletion of a Project

Home > selected Project > Delete

Requires Projects - Delete Permissions

If you have the needed permissions, and there are no jobs in progress, you can request deletion of a Project and all of its contents. This changes its state to DELETE_REQUEST_PENDING, and it becomes unavailable. All System Users with the appropriate permissions who have an email address associated with their account then receive an email notification of the deletion request, and can approve or deny it using Provisioning > Delete Pending Projects. Even if you are a System User with the needed permissions, you cannot delete a project directly; you must first request deletion and then approve the request. (On approval, the Project state becomes DELETE_PENDING.)

When you delete a Project, you delete the following:

  • Association of Data Sets with the Project. (Organization Data Sets are always preserved to support new or existing Projects.)
  • Any views that were defined explicitly for the Project, such as Folders,Synthetic Documents, and Export Streams.
  • All Work Basket tasks for the Project.
  • References to Organization documents added to the Project from Data Areas. (The documents themselves are unaffected.)
  • Association of available Users and Groups with the Project.(The Users and Groups themselves are unaffected.

Note: If you have Export CSV files that you want to keep, be sure to retrieve them before you delete the Project. After you delete the Project, you cannot recover these Export CSV files.

You can request deletion of a Project from the Home page or Systems Settings > Projects.

Note: When you delete an object within a Project (for example, a Data Set) you no longer see the object in the user interface. Where applicable, a Work Basket task is generated so you can monitor the progress of the Delete operation, which could require considerable time, depending on the number of elements involved. If the operation fails, check the details reported and if necessary contact your Administrator, who in some cases may want to use a utility to perform further cleanup.
