Add Selected Text to an Alias List, Domain List, or Synthetic Document

Document Viewer > Add Selected Text to... Alias List | Domain List | Synthetic Document

Requires Add/Edit Permissions for Synthetic Documents, Alias Lists, or Domain Lists

In the Document Viewer, you can select text on the HTML or Text tabs and use the Add Selected Text to option to add it to an existing or new Alias List, Domain List, or Synthetic Document. For example, you can add email addresses to an Alias List, Domains to a Domain List, or document content to a Synthetic Document.

When you use the Add Selected Text to option and choose Alias List, Domain List, or Synthetic Document, the appropriate Add text to dialog displays, with the existing lists or documents (if any) on the left and a New button above them. When you select an existing item or add a new one by clicking New and specifying the Name and Description, its contents (including the text you are adding) are shown on the right (with a Comment text box below for Synthetic Documents).

In the case of an Alias List or Domain List, each item in the contents display is labeled with one of the following:

  • EXISTING (existing lists only) – Items already in the list.

  • DUPLICATE (existing lists only – The text you are currently attempting to add if it is already in the list.

  • TO BE ADDED – The text you are currently adding.

When you click Save, the text you selected is added to the list or document (unless it was labeled DUPLICATE). You can choose an alternate existing list or document or click New again as many times as you like before saving. Click Cancel to discard your changes.
