Requires Organization - Project Data Areas - View Permissions to view Project Data Areas, Project Data Areas - Add/Edit Permissions to create or edit a Project Data Area, and Project Data Areas - Delete Permissions to delete an existing Project Data Area

Project Data Areas are special Data Areas dedicated to supporting Project Export and subsequent Project Import operations (that is, export of a Project and subsequent import of a Project). The Project Export and Import process is referred to as Project Portability, since it allows a Project to be saved and later restored and used within the context of a new Project. A Project Data Area requires a read/write NFS Connector.

Note: Project Portability requires the definition and use of a read/write NFS Connector and associated Project Data Area on both the Project Export side and the Project Import side (where the Import side references the exported Project's location). If the Project Export/Import scenario involves the same Organization, the same NFS Connector and Project Data Area can be used for the Project Export and the Project Import. For more information on how to export a Project, see Export a Project and How to Export a Project. For more information on how to import a Project,, see Import a Previously Exported Project into a New Project and How to Import a Project.

Users in a role with the appropriate permissions can add and manage Project Data Areas, as follows:

  • View a list of Project Data Areas and their attributes.
  • Add a Project Data Area using the New Data Area option.
  • Delete a Project Data Area using the Delete option, which presents you with a popup asking you to verify the deletion of the Project Data Area from the Organization.

Note: Since this is an Organization-wide view of Project Data Areas , you should be particularly careful to preserve any Project Data Areas and associated Connectors that may serve eDiscovery Projects.

Project Data Area Information

  • Connector Name – Displays the name of the Connector associated with the Project Data Area.
  • Type – Displays the type of Connector (for a Project Data Area, this is always NFS).
  • Mode – Lets you see the mode of the Connector associated with the Export Data Area, either Read/Write or Read-Only. You cannot change the mode of a configured Connector.
  • Server – Displays the IP address or hostname of the associated Connector.
  • Connector Path – Displays the current path associated with the Project Data Area and its NFS Connector.
  • Data Area Path — The Folder location for the Project Data Area.

Selected Project Data Area Actions

If you have the appropriate permissions, you can right-click a Project Data Area and select one of the following actions, or click the ellipses at the far right to view a menu of available options:

  • Validate — Validates the Project Data Area information to ensure that it is accessible. If the Project Data Area is valid, a The Data Area is valid message appears. If validation fails, a message indicates that the path cannot be found.
  • Edit – Launches the Edit Project Data Area screen, which enables you to edit some attributes of the Project Data Area, such as the name, description, and Path.
  • Delete – Enables you to delete a Project Data Area as long as it is not currently performing an operation. A popup prompts you to confirm the deletion.

Page Controls

For multi-page lists, you can select a page to display. By default, a given page will display 100 items.

The paging area shows a range and enables you to enter the page number in the box or use the appropriate arrows to navigate.

– You can perform an immediate refresh by clicking the Refresh button, , on the Page Control bar.
