Requires Project - Reports - View, Add/Edit Permissions

Users in a role with permissions can manage the Report settings in effect for the Project. Report settings enable you to control which reports you want to have generated and displayed for the Reports tab of the following types of views:

  • Imports (Imports reports view, or Imports results view)
  • each Data Set (a Data Set view, as well as any Data Set-based results view)
  • Project Data (the Project Data view, a Custodian, Batch, MediaID, Tag, Folder, or Comparison view, as well as any Project Data-based search result view.

Initially, a given Reports tab shows you all reports that apply to that particular type of view. If you want, you can disable the generation of selected reports for the Imports, Data Set, or Project Data-based views by manipulating the Report Settings at either the Project level, or by loading the settings from a template.

Any disabled report will be grayed out and labeled Report Disabled when you go to the Reports tab for the appropriate view type. Click Update from a Reports tab to ensure that the most recent enabled/disabled settings are reflected.

When all reports are selected to be generated, rendering the reports for a view with a large number of documents (for example, greater than 50,000) may take time. If report generation is taking a considerable amount of time, an in-progress Generate Reports task appears in the Work Basket. If you want, you can cancel the report generation task in the Work Basket.

Report Checkbox Options per View Type

The Report Settings help you identify whether a given report is enabled or disabled for a particular view type. Use the checkboxes for each view type to determine whether that report is generated and displayed for the view.

Note: Search result views always begin with a Search Summary and provide a set of key charts that apply to the appropriate view type.

For a given report, then the report does not apply to that particular view type. For example, the Scan Report Summary applies only to a Data Set view and the Date Report applies only to a Project Data based view.

Report Settings: Save or Discard Changes

If you do not save your changes before navigating away, you will be prompted to either save your changes and continue navigating away, discard your changes and continue navigating away, or cancel your changes and remain in the current location.

  • Save – Saves your changes to the Report Settings.
  • Discard Changes – Discards your changes to the Report Settings.

Reports: Save to and Load from Template Options

If you have the appropriate permissions, you can save your Reports settings to a template or load the settings from a template. To do this, click the ellipses to the right of Reports in the tree of eDiscovery Project Settings, as follows:

Note: Save to and Load from operations for this setting observe an "overwrite" behavior. For example, for a Load from operation, your current settings are replaced by the settings from the selected template/settings. Note that some settings, such as Patterns, Tags, Domain Lists, Alias Lists and Excluded Content observe an "append" behavior instead.

  • Save to Template - If you have Add/Edit permissions to Reports templates in the Organization, you can use the Save to Template option to save your current settings to a selected Organization template. You can either select an existing Organization template (including the Default Report settings template), or you can select the top-level (New Template,) which launches the New Template dialog.
  • Load from Template - If you have Add/Edit permissions to Reports settings in the Project, you can use the Load from Template option to load settings from a selected template (from a list of available Organization templates). The loaded settings then appear and are saved automatically. Note that loading from a System template requires System-level View permission for a given Setting. (This means you must be a System User in a role with at least View permission to see a list of System templates for a particular type of template.)
