Manage Organization Connectors

Home > selected Organization > menu or right-click > Settings > General > Connectors
Project > Settings
drop-down > Organization Settings > General > Connectors

Requires Organization - Connectors - View Permissions to view Connectors, Connectors - Add/Edit Permissions to create or edit a Connector, and Connectors - Delete Permissions to delete an existing Connector

Users with the appropriate permissions can view and/or manage Connectors for the Organization, as follows:

  • View a list of Connectors with information for each Connector.
  • Create a Connector using the New Connector option, which launches the New Connector dialog.
  • Validate a selected Connector using the Validate option.
  • Edit a selected Connector using the Edit option.
  • Deactivate a selected Connector using the Deactivate option.
  • Delete a selected Connector using the Delete option, which presents a popup to verify the deletion of a Connector from the Organization. For a user with the appropriate permissions, deleting a Connector is generally permitted if the Connector is not supporting data area locations that are in use (for example, you made a mistake when configuring the Connector, before performing an import). Connector deletion is not permitted if the Connector has data area locations that are in use, and you will see an error identifying those data area locations.

Connectors Summary

When you click Connectors, you see a Connector Summary with a list of Connectors and the attributes for that Connector, as follows:

  • Connector Name – A descriptive name that appears in lists to identify the Connector. This can be an alphanumeric name of up to 32 characters to the Connector. The name can have an underscore (_), as well as spaces. The name must be unique within the Organization. The name is validated.
  • DescriptionA helpful description of the Connector.
  • Type – Displays the type of Connector: NFS, NFS (PanFS), CIFS, Microsoft Exchange, or Microsoft SharePoint).
  • Mode – Displays the mode of the Connector, either Read/Write or Read Only. The Connector mode cannot be edited.
  • ServerDisplays the IP address or Fully Qualified Domain Name of the mount point.
  • Path/Domain — Displays the selected path (mount information) or domain associated with the Connector. This information varies per Connector.
  • Status – Displays the current status of the Connector. A Connector shows AVAILABLE after it has been successfully activated and is generally available for use. A Connector that has been created but not yet activated will show UNKNOWN. An administratively deactivated Connector will show DEACTIVATED for the status. A Connector in a failure state will show FAILURE.

Connector Options

To create a Connector, click the New Connector button, which launches the New Connector dialog. This action requires Organization - Connectors - Add/Edit permission.

For an existing Connector, you can right-click a Connector (or click the ellipses at the far right) and select any of the following actions:

  • Validate — Enables you to validate the Connector to ensure that it is accessible. A popup message will indicate whether the validation was successful or failed due to an error.
  • Edit – Launches the Edit Connector screen, which enables you to edit information for the Connector. This action requires Organization - Connectors - Add/Edit permission.
  • Deactivate — Enables users with the appropriate permissions to deactivate a selected Connector (that is, disable it until it is called upon to perform an import or export, based on its read or read/write capabilities). You may want to use this option if you have a Connector with a mount that is not being used anymore. When you click this option, a message warns you to check for Jobs in progress and asks you to confirm the state change: This operation will deactivate the selected Connector. Make sure all associated Jobs are complete before proceeding. Are you sure you want to deactivate the selected Connector? Click OK to continue or Cancel to cancel the operation. Deactivated Connectors appear in the DEACTIVATED state from the Organization Connectors screen (but they will not appear in the Monitoring Node Details). You can activate a deactivated Connector by performing an import, or an export (if the Connector is read/write). A deactivated Connector cannot be selected for another Deactivate operation. Deactivated Connectors will remain in a DEACTIVATED state after a Digital Reef restart.
  • Delete – Enables you to delete a Connector after you verify (in a popup window) the deletion of the Connector from the Organization. This action requires Organization - Connectors - Delete permissions. Deleting a Connector is allowed if the Connector is not supporting data area locations that are in use (for example, if you made a mistake when initially configuring the Connector and have not yet performed an import). Connector deletion is not permitted if the Connector has data area locations that are in use, and you will see an error identifying those data area locations.
