Manage Custom Fields in a Template

Home > selected Organization > menu or right-click > Settings > eDiscovery Templates > Custom Fields
Project > Settings drop-down > > Organization Settings > eDiscovery Templates > Custom Fields

Requires Organization - Custom Fields - View (to view the Custom Fields at the Organization level), Add/Edit (to add a Custom Field, and Delete (to delete a Custom Fields template)

Users in a role with the appropriate permissions can add Custom Fields in an Organization template (or at the Project level). You may want to use Custom Fields when working with Load Files, such as DAT Load Files.

When working with Organization Export Field templates, keep in mind that no Custom metadata field mapping is permitted at the Organization template level. Use a Project Export Fields template to define all of the field mapping, including custom fields, for Export.

When you select a template type from the Organization Settings, a user with the appropriate permissions can use the top-level Templates context menu to perform the following action:

  • Create a template by clicking the (New Template) option, which launches the New Template properties dialog.

For a selected template, a user with the appropriate permissions can click the ellipses and use the context menu to perform the following actions:

  • Save to Template – Launches the Save to Template dialog, which enables you to save current settings to an available template, or select New Template, which launches the New Template dialog. You cannot perform a Load from template operation from a given Custom Fields template to your existing Custom Fields template or to your Project Custom Fields. You can select a Custom Fields template to use at Project creation.
  • Select Set as Default, which marks the selected template as the default template. This is not available for the Default template of a given type, or for any other template already set as the Default.
  • Edit – Launches the Edit Template dialog, which enables you to edit the template name and/or description of the selected template.
  • Delete – Delete a template, which causes the display of a popup asking you to verify the deletion of the template from the Organization.

Custom Fields Summary

Note: You must search for a Custom Field using single quotes and lowercase using the 'drcustom-<custom_field_name>' format. This format requires you to place the search within single quotes and specify the Custom Field name in lowercase, since the software normalizes a Custom Field name to lowercase.

New Custom Field Option

To add a new Custom Field, use the top-level New Custom Field option. You cannot edit or delete a Custom Field.
