Add and Manage System Template Profiles

Home > Settings drop-down > System Settings > Template Profiles
Project > Settings drop-down System Settings > Template Profiles

Requires Template Profiles - View permissions to view the information, Add/Edit permissions to manage the Template Profiles, Delete permissions to delete a Template Profile

System Users in a role with the appropriate System-level permissions can view and/or manage System Template Profiles from the System Settings tab. By default, all System roles can view the information for a Template Profile. By default, a System Administrator and System Manager have permissions to edit a Template Profile and its information, including the checkbox options, and use the Save, Discard Changes, and Save to Organizations buttons. By default, a System Administrator and System Manager have permissions to delete a Template Profile.

A System Profile enables a System User to select a set of System Templates and save them to one or more Organizations. A System User can select from a list of available System Templates of each template type, select which template of each type to use as the default template for that type, save the changes to the Template Profile, and then use Save to Organizations to save the set of templates to one or more Organizations (only those Organizations that are available to the System User based on System User/System Group membership to Organizations).

If you are a System User, you can use the top-level Template Profiles context menu to perform the following action:

  • Create a Template Profile by clicking the (New Template) option, which launches the New Template properties dialog. There are no default Template Profiles or System Templates in the System Settings; you have to add a system Template Profile and the desired System Templates. After you create the new Template Profile, you can work on that Template Profile.

For a selected Template Profile, you can click the ellipses and use the context menu to perform the following actions:

  • Edit – Launches the Edit Template dialog, which enables you to edit the Template Profile name and/or description of the selected Template Profile.
  • Delete – Delete a Template Profile, which causes the display of a popup asking you to verify the deletion of the Template Profile.

Template Profiles Table and Checkbox Options

A Template Profile provides a list of all available System Templates, by type. Select which templates you want to push to one or more Organizations to which you have access (based on System User/System Group membership), and select which template in each group you want to set as the default template for the Organizations. Then click Save to preserve your selections, which enables you to use the Save to Organizations button.

Note: If there are no System Templates of a given type available, that type will not appear in the list.

  • Template Type– The type of System Template (for example, Analytic Settings or Export Settings). Each System Template is listed with its corresponding template type.
  • Save to Org – Enables you to select which templates you want to include when you perform a Save to Organizations operation. Each selected template is shown with a blue checkmark .
  • Set as Default – Enables you to select a System Template within each template type to set as the default template for the Organizations you select in a Save to Organizations operation. Only one System Template of a given type can serve as the default template, and that System Template must be selected in the Save to Org Column (if not, the Set as Default checkbox will be grayed out). A template type selected as the default is shown with a green checkmark .
  • Template Name – Displays the name of the System Template.
  • Template Description – Displays the description of the System Template, if one has been configured.

Template Profiles: Save or Discard Changes Options

If you do not save your changes before navigating away, you will be prompted to either save your changes and continue navigating away, discard your changes and continue navigating away, or cancel your changes and remain in the current location.

  • Save – Saves the changes to the template selections in the Template Profile and enables the Save to Organizations button (as long as at least one template is selected when you submit your changes).
  • Discard Changes – Discards your changes to the Template Profile.
  • Save to Organizations – Launches the Save to Organizations dialog, which allows you to select which Organizations you want to receive the selected templates in the Template Profile.

Repeated Save Operations and Template Profile Changes

Once you have saved a Template Profile using Save or used the Template Profile in the Save to Organizations operation, the list of items continues to include all available templates as well as any templates in place at the time of last Save or Save to Organizations.

You can modify the available templates you want to use in the next Save or Save to Organizations operation.

If any templates used in the last Save to Organizations operation are no longer available, they will be grayed out in the text of the row and in the checkboxes. Also, a message informs you that "One or more previously used templates are no longer available and have been grayed out below."
